Hyundai Motor Company is adding not one, but three prestigious Red Dot Design accolades to its trophy case.
Hyundai N Vision 74
Chief among these accolades is the Design Concept award for the Hyundai N Vision 74. Hyundai also received the Brand & Communication Design award for the ‘Seon’ integrated infotainment design system and the Hyundai Sans UI mobility UX typeface.
The Hyundai N Vision 74 is a high-performance hydrogen-electric hybrid vehicle concept used as a test bed for developing eco-friendly motorsport cars. Previous reports suggested the concept would be brought to life but were eventually turned down by Hyundai.
However, N Vision 74 is rumored to be in the works following unearthed documents filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a hydrogen car. For now, it stays as a sought-after concept.
'Seon' infotainment system (Hyundai Kona Electric)
The design of the N Vision 74 pays homage to the original 1974 Pony Coupe concept, which also inspired the road-going Ioniq 5. While the fate of the high-performance hydrogen car is yet to be known, the automaker continues to strengthen its high-performance lineup with the first-ever N-badged EV, the track-oriented Ioniq 5 N.
Meanwhile, the two Brand & Communication Design award recipients reflect Hyundai’s commitment to innovating the cabin experience.
‘Seon’, which means ‘Line’ in Korean, is said to be a new design system applied to the brand’s next-gen ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) infotainment system, completing the simple and flat graphic of the brand. The display hierarchy has been more clearly defined to make it easier for drivers to use it on the go.
Hyundai Sans UI mobility UX typeface
The next-gen infotainment system is available in the next-gen Hyundai Kona. However, it has not made the Philippine market just yet.
The system is complemented by the award-winning Hyundai Sans UI mobility UX typeface, which was developed to incorporate “aesthetics, legibility, and brand identity.”
The awards follow the multiple awards the automaker received for its design works. One of which is the 2023 World Car Person of the Year handed to the company’s design chief SangYup Lee. He was awarded for designing cars like the N Vision 74, Ioniq 6, and Kona.
