In a recent Facebook post, Geely Philippines has indicated that the launch of the facelifted Coolray subcompact crossover is imminent. Of note, this is the same version that was previewed at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
Geely PH's post regarding the new Coolray's upcoming launch
During the aforementioned event, we got to see first-hand what the 2022 Geely Coolray is offering to prospective buyers. On the outside, the new Coolray features an evolved design over the outgoing model.
Up front, it gets a new decorative piece that’s placed underneath the grille, and stretching over the front main intake down to the vehicle’s side vents. It makes the Coolray appear heftier, and it enhances its sportiness.
The grille itself was also replaced by a new mesh design. From the sides, it looks identical to the older Geely Coolray model, though it also gets the addition of graphics just above its side skirts. The side skirts themselves also come in a new design.
Towards the rear, it now comes with a more prominent, and more curvy-looking spoiler. This is coupled with the dual-exhaust tips, which were also present in the outgoing model.
Mechanically though, it was confirmed that the facelifted Coolray remains identical to the outgoing model. It still uses the same 1.5-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine, which can still churn out 177 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. This three-banger is then paired with a seven-speed wet type dual-clutch gearbox sending power to the front.
This facelift adds a bit more youthfulness and sportiness to the Coolray
Likewise, the facelifted Geely Coolray will get the same gadgets and safety features as the old version. An automated parking assist system is still present, as well as traction control, stability control, speed-sensing door locks, tire pressure monitoring, as well as a total of six airbags.
There were also no changes made to the Coolray’s fancy interior. It will still come with a 10.25-inch headunit, cruise control, leather-wrapped seats, a tilt and telescopic steering column, etc.
