Facelifted Geely Coolray: 3 things we like

The good-looking crossover gets even more stylish

At the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Geely Philippines launched the facelifted Coolray and a special edition version for the Philippine market. The special edition trim is called the Coolray SE, and mechanically, it is still identical to the version initially launched in the local market. But then, there are some elements to this facelifted version that we rather like.

2022 Geely Coolray: Sporty and youthful

On the outside, it of course remains pleasing to the eye. But the biggest change is found on its front end, as it now features a new decorative piece. It is placed underneath the grill and over the center front intake, while stretching towards the side vents. This provides the Coolray SE a beefier, sportier look.

Moreover, Geely also replaced the “expanding cosmos” grille design in favor of a mesh design on this edition of the Coolray. We feel that this adds more to the contemporary design of this model.

All over the car, the Coolray SE for 2022 also received some graphics. These are subtle, and they can be found on the front lip, as well as above the side skirts. These make for an even more youthful-looking ride.

Further adding to its sportiness is a more curvaceous-looking rear spoiler. It looks more prominent than the outgoing version’s spoiler, and it even gets a pair of sharper-looking fins on either of its sides.

2022 Geely Coolray: Style, but also power

As mentioned, many features of the pre-facelifted version also make a return. Under the hood, the facelifted model still comes with a 1.5-liter inline-3 turbocharged gasoline engine capable of delivering 177 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. This is then paired with a seven-speed wet type dual clutch gearbox.

By now, many, especially the current owners of the Coolray, are already familiar with this powertrain’s ability to provide a good amount of oomph whether it be for daily driving, or for out of town on the highways.

2022 Geely Coolray: Gadget competence

The same goes for its array of convenience of on-board features. While the looks have been updated, it still has the automatic parking assist, six airbags, speed-sensing door locks, traction control, stability control, among other safety features.

Furthermore, it also gets a tilt and telescopic steering column, automatic air-conditioning, leather seats, cruise control, a push to start button, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and many others.

Those are a pretty competent set of convenience and safety features don’t you think? For more updates on the Coolray SE and the other facelifted Coolray trims, keep it here on Philkotse
