The Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Metro Manila has been extended until September 15. As such, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is also extending the free train rides to vaccinated Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs).
Free train rides for vaccinated APORs
Similar to the first run, vaccinated APORs can avail free rides at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), and Philippine National Railways (PNR). The schedule of free rides for APORs varies per train system.
For APORs taking the MRT-3, the free ride is scheduled between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
APORs taking the LRT-2 can ride free during the following hours: 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Lastly, free rides in PNR are during the following: 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. onwards.
Take note of the free train ride hours
Vaccinated APORs need to present their vaccination cards, and their certificate of APOR status to avail of the free ride in any of the said train systems. The DOTr clarified that individuals who have been vaccinated with a first dose will still be eligible for the free train rides.
On the other hand, the Metro Manila Council (MMC), composed of 17 Metro Manila mayos, wants to ease the COVID-19 guidelines for fully vaccinated (vaxxed) individuals in the National Capital Region (NCR). The council is urging the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to craft new guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals in NCR to help revive the region’s economy.
MMDA Chariman Benhur Abalos
The resolution released by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) clarifies that LGUs are aware of the threat brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic.
