Chery Auto Philippines teases a new crossover/SUV that will show up at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). One of our guesses is that the mystery model could be the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV.
Based on the teaser photo, the vehicle underscores “EV” in the word rEVive from its tagline, “Revive your passion with the environment.” It also has the number seven on the background, leading us to think it is the Tiggo 7.
If the mystery model is indeed the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV, then In that case, the compact crossover will be capable of offering a more potent and more efficient powertrain thanks to its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.
Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV
As a point of reference, note that the China-spec Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV uses a 1.5-liter mill with 154 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. It is combined with dual electric motors capable of generating 168 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, amplifying the total system output up to 322 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque.
Like the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV available in the Philippine market, the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV uses a DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). Other technical specifications include a 19.27 kWh ternary lithium battery, as well as a 7-second zero to 100 km/h acceleration time and an 80 km pure electric vehicle (EV) range as claimed by Chery.
Compact crossover with a PHEV system
If the teased model isn’t the PHEV version, it might be the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MHEV (mild-hybrid electric vehicle) instead. We’ll just have to see once the 2023 MIAS commences starting April 13, 2023, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Chery’s sub-brand, Jetour, will also participate in the auto show. But Jetour is running as an independent brand locally under a joint distributorship between Gateway Group and AutoSpeedyGo. It is expected to wow spectators with its budget-friendly offerings from the Ice Cream EV priced at Php 699,000 to the 7-seater X70 midsize crossover with a Php 1.499 million price tag.
