The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) was recently inaugurated, connecting Cebu City and the town of Cordova in Mactan. Not only does the new expressway stands as a new iconic landmark in the Queen City of the South, but also provides a faster route to motorists via a toll road system.
The new expressway in Cebu is all set
With that being said, the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) has rolled out the approved toll rates for the CCLEX to finalize the project. Here is the list of toll rates below approved by LGU-Grantors:
- Php 90 for Class 1 vehicles such as cars, jeepneys, pickup trucks, vans, and motorcycles.
- Php 180 for Class I vehicles above seven feet in height.
- Php 180 for Class II vehicles such as light trucks, tourist/school, and public utility buses.
- Php 270 for Class III vehicles such as heavy and multi-axle trucks and trailers.
Take note, CCLEC is still determining how much discount it will provide to motorcycles under 400cc. Unlike most expressways in Luzon, the toll road company is allowing motorcycles with an engine displacement ranging from 125cc to 399cc to traverse the expressway. This decision was made as motorcycles have become the preferred mode of transportation of Cebuanos.
In addition, Class 1 vehicles above seven feet in height exclude those that use the top load as space for recreational equipment such as bikes, surfboards, among others.
A safe and eco-friendly expressway
Aside from motor vehicles, the CCLEX has a separate lane for bicycle users and pedestrians. With this, the expressway can both improve the convenience of motorists and provide eco-friendly mobility alternatives. It will also contribute to the socio-economic development in Metro Cebu.
For the safety of motorists that will use the new expressway, the RFID system is paired with motion sensors, speed cameras, and high-definition closed-circuit television (CCTV).
