Travel time from CAVITEX to Makati, Taguig will soon be reduced by 45 minutes.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar is confident that the two segments of the CAVITEX (Manila-Cavite Expressway) C5 Link will be completed next year. The agency is determined to complete the expressway on time as it will help reduce traffic congestion along EDSA, Sales Road, and other major thoroughfares.

The DPWH, along with the representatives from the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC),  inspected the progress of the CAVITEX C5 Link segments 2, and 3A-2. Segment 2 is a 1.9-kilometer road that will connect CAVITEX R1 to Sucat, which bypasses Sucat Road, and Quirino Avenue. On the other hand, Segment 3A2 is a 1.6-kilometer road that will connect Merville to RSG subdivision in Pasay City.

Villar shared that Segment 3A-2 of the CAVITEX C5 Link will be completed by the first quarter of 2022 while Segment 2 is slated by the third quarter. Aside from decongesting traffic along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, Villar noted that the CAVITEX C5 Link will help reduce the travel time from CAVITEX to Makati and Taguig by 45 minutes.

“With the progress we have seen on-site today, we are optimistic that the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment will be completed as planned. We really look forward to the completion of this project because aside from helping decongest EDSA, Sales Road and other major thoroughfares, this expressway will help reduce the travel time of our motorists from CAVITEX to Makati and Taguig and vice versa by forty-five minutes,” Villar said.

CAVITEX C5 Link flyover opened last July 2019

Last July 2019, Segment 3A-1 of the CAVITEX C5 Link has been opened to motorists. It is a 2.2-kilometer flyover traversing the cities of Taguig, and Parañaque. The Php 1.6-billion flyover gives access to motorists traveling between Fort Bonifacio, C.P. Garcia (C5), Taguig City, Parañaque City, Las Piñas City, and Pasay City. The DPWH claimed that Segment 3A-1 caters to an average of 12,000 motorists daily.

Once the remaining segments of the CAVITEX C5 Link are completed, it is expected to accommodate around 50,000 motorists, particularly those coming from Taguig, Makati, Las Piñas, and Pasay.
