To say that Hyundai is on a roll would be an understatement. It introduced the now popular Hyundai Kona subcompact crossover and the uber comfy and very macho Hyundai Palisade.
The company even introduced a new hybrid model, the Hyundai Ioniq here in the Philippines. Recently, Hyundai also released the Hyundai Venue subcompact crossover in numerous territories other than the Philippines. This, of course, means that a lot of Pinoys are thirsting for it.
HYUNDAI TARLAC 2021 the Pickup of Hyundai
Now, what if Hyundai also made a pickup truck? It would make sense, right? Pickups, after all, are very popular here in our country so introducing one will only help to increase Hyundai’s market share.
This, however, begs the question: what would a Hyundai-made pickup truck look like?
The Hyundai Tarlac Rendering
To answer that question, this is where Filipino design wizard Enoch Gabriel Gonzales steps in with his take on what a Hyundai pickup truck will look like. Take a long hard look at this Hyundai Tarlac 3D Rendering by Enoch Gabriel Gonzales:

Mr. Gonzales' Hyundai Tarlac just looks so right, doesn't it? [Source: Enoch Gabriel Gonzales]
Called the 2022 Hyundai Tarlac, this 3D render of a concept vehicle is a tough-looking, proper pickup truck that is designed to trade blows with the current pickup models dominating the local market today.
It’s got the right ride height, the popular double cab layout, and we’d rather like to think that it has a body-on-frame build too. Mr. Gonzales even managed to incorporate the current Hyundai design language into his vision, which just looks so right.
To sum it all up, we want it and if Hyundai decides to make this, we’re guessing that many folks will indeed become takers.

Hyundai is indeed making a pickup truck
Yes, you heard that right. Hyundai is indeed developing a new pickup truck model. This one, however, is based on the new Hyundai Santa Cruz. As such, it looks like a crossover with a truck bed.
This means it sits lower to the ground than a proper body-on-frame truck and it might even have less in the way of cargo capacity. This truck, however, is going to be made in the U.S. and it is set to go against the Honda Ridgeline.
The Santa Cruz based pickup truck is going to be made in Alabama
As to whether Hyundai Philippines will be bringing in the Santa Cruz pickup truck, there’s no word yet. Like we always say though, we’ll never know.
What we do know though is that Hyundai Philippines did, then it might do well considering that many Pinoys are also talking about the Honda Ridgeline.
