Hyundai Motor Company revealed the design of the facelifted Sonata ahead of its global premiere later this month.
2024 Hyundai Sonata
Right off the bat, the new Sonata noticeably comes with a familiar sporty yet futuristic design theme seen in other Hyundai models called Sensuous Sportiness. The midsize sedan now follows the styling of the refreshed iterations of its smaller sedan siblings, the new Accent and the new Elantra.
The front end has a very assertive look with the snazzy front grille and Staria-like full-width daytime running light (DRL). Over to the side, the model’s low-riding stance and fastback roofline add sportiness to the finish, along with the sharp and intricate character lines.
Interior of the new Sonata
At the rear, the H-light also found in the new Elantra underscores the vehicle’s “high-tech image” and wide stance. Further emphasizing the vehicle’s sporty nature are the rear spoiler, dual twin-tip mufflers, and 19-inch N Line wheels.
The sporty and futuristic design details continue into the interior. Space is also maximized with the simple dashboard layout and a column-type shift-by-wire controller behind the steering wheel. Among the interior features are tasteful interior color combinations, a three-spoke steering design, a sunroof, and driver-centric screens.
The Sonata gets a futuristic yet sporty appeal
Speaking of the screens, the new Sonata sports Hyundai’s first curved display that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch AVN infotainment system.
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata is slated to be fully revealed at the Seoul Mobility Show happening from March 30 to April 9, 2023.
The sportiest Sonata yet
Locally, it could be unlikely to see the new Sonata make it on our roads as Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) currently focuses on offering crossovers, MPVs, and vans only. Plus, the midsize sedan segment is starting to relax, with the Honda Accord now out of the Philippine lineup and the Toyota Camry recently discontinued in Japan. But, who knows, right?
For markets that will continue selling the Hyundai Sonata, they get to drive a sportier-looking sedan with future-proof styling.
