Porsche has finally unveiled the new 2023 911 Dakar off-road model at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

It was earlier this month when the German automaker broke the news that the 911 Dakar was put to over 9,600 km of off-road testing. Now, the finished product has been revealed as a limited edition model that pays homage to the brand’s victory at the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally in a 911.
The Porsche 911 Dakar survived grueling testing over snow, sand, and gravel thanks to the technologies and equipment it brings. As an off-roader, the ride height is increased by 50mm over the 911 Carrera model. It can be raised by an additional 30mm with the standard lift system installed.

In terms of tires used, the off-road edition is fitted with specially-developed Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus Tires – 245/45ZR19 at the front and 295/40ZR20 at the rear. To meet the different needs of customers, the vehicle is also available with summer performance and snow radials from the Pirelli P Zero tire family as options.
Other exterior bits include a fixed rear spoiler, a hood made of CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymers) taken from the 911 GT3, red front and rear tow hooks, flared fender arches, rocker panels, and an optional roof basket that can carry up to 42 kg of equipment such as spare canisters for both water and fuel.

Inside, the vehicle gets full bucket seats while having the rear seats removed. It is also designed with lightweight glass to save weight, improving its off-road capabilities.
In the performance department, the 911 Dakar runs on a 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine with 473 horsepower and 569 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Bolstering the Dakar moniker are two new drive modes: Rallye Mode and Off-Road Mode.
Ready to hit dirt when the road ends
Limited to 2,500 units globally, Porsche is expected to begin deliveries of the 911 Dakar to U.S. dealers in the second quarter of 2023. It will come with a MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) of USD 222,000 (or around Php 12,723,486) excluding delivery, processing, and handling fees.
A 911 Dakar rally-inspired timepiece is also up for grabs
Customers can opt for a start number on the side between 0 to 999. They can also order an exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar or the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition.
