After a series of spy and teaser photos, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) finally unveiled the new Xpander. Due to the popularity of the MPV in the ASEAN and other regions around the world, the new model is expected to further improve the car brand’s reach with its redesigned layouts and more fuel-efficient powertrain.
New 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander
The new front-end design from the teaser photo is now shed with light. It flaunts new T-shaped headlights and revamped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that appear to be longer. And just like most Mitsubishi models, the new Xpander gets the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield that is redesigned to look sharper than ever.
Over to the side, the Mitsubishi Xpander is fitted with new 17-inch alloy wheels that get a machined-finished two-tone design. The Japanese automaker said that the ground clearance is increased by 15 to 20 mm, resulting in a higher ride height rating from 220 to 225 mm. Meanwhile, the front and rear overhangs are extended by 75 mm and 45 mm, respectively. All these additions enhance the appearance of the model.

Inside, the 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander comes with a new and more straightforward finish. This can be further highlighted by the new beige-colored layout that is available on higher-end variants. Moreover, the steering wheel is reconfigured to look more modern with more prominent chrome accents and a round center.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is still be powered by the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Of note, the 4-speed automatic transmission of the Xpander is confirmed to be removed from the options. It will be replaced by a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which is said to offer better fuel efficiency and smooth ride comfort.
Now more ready for the competition in the MPV segment
The 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander will make its first public appearance at the 28th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show which will be held starting November 11. Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) hasn’t put out any word about whether it will bring the redesigned model to the lineup.
