The PHEV model got a lot beefier and muscular.

Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) revealed the all-new design of the Outlander PHEV ahead of its online world premiere. If the new design looks familiar, then that could be explained by the new fourth-gen Mitsubishi Outlander that made its debut last February 2021. It’s almost impossible to spot differences between the two.

One can think of the all-new design along the lines of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Eclipse Cross PHEV. Both the gasoline and PHEV models of the Eclipse Cross look similar from the front to the back. Now, the new Outlander PHEV will be clothed the same as its gasoline counterpart for the 2022 model.

The only significant difference between the Mitsubishi Outlander Philippines and the new Outlander PHEV is the integration of a black roof on the latter. As for similarities, the redesigned model now shares the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield front fascia that can be seen on most Mitsubishi models including the Xpander, Montero Sport, and Strada.

At the side, the new model is equipped with a set of 20-inch wheels. The blacked-out A, B, and C pillars complement the exclusive black roof of the PHEV version. And as for the rear, it gets redesigned and extended taillights that add sleekness. MMC offers a total of 10 paint options including variants of Red, Diamond, and Black.

Inside, the redesigned model comes with the same layout including the ambitious-looking orange stitching around the cabin. Although the Japanese automaker did not disclose the specifications of the new model, one can expect that it is equipped with the new 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As said earlier, no official specifications have been rolled out. However, MMC confirmed that the new Outlander PHEV will offer more power and a better electric range. It will also utilize an improved Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) paired with multiple drive modes.
