Admit it guys, most of you back when you were kids probably had a poster of the 1974 Lamborghini Countach in your bedrooms. For that matter, some families even hung a framed picture of the radical-looking sports car somewhere in their living rooms for all to see.
The majestic and deliciously flamboyant 1974 Lamborghini Countach
And who could fault you for admiring such a car? The Countach after all, is one of the most significant models in the Italian marque’s lineup. Without it, scissor doors and the iconic wedge shape that we know and love today wouldn’t be as popular.
Hold up, why are we talking about the Countach?
Well recently, Lamborghini announced that it will be reviving the said nameplate. The brand even released a teaser photo featuring the car wrapped under covers as well as a teaser video showing a child hanging a picture of the old Countach on his bedroom wall.
The new Countach wrapped in a sheet. See, it still has that iconic wedge shape
With that said, we still do not know what it looks like. However, we could be certain that it's in keeping with what made the original Countach so eye-catching. The wrapped-up car on the teaser photo, after all, bears quite a rakish wedge-shaped silhouette just like the Countach from the 1970s.
As for mechanical specs, numerous reports are saying that it will be using a V12 just like the original model. Though that powertrain might be coming with some electronic assistance so it's going to be a hybrid.
The rumor above is based on a leak showing that the upcoming Countach will also bear the LPI 800-4 designation. To be exact, the LPI acronym stands for Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido. In English, that means it will have a longitudinally-mounted hybrid engine positioned on the rear. The 800 refers to its horsepower rating in PS, so it will be making 789 horsepower. Lastly, the four refers to the car’s all-wheel-drive layout.
So, are you excited about the upcoming Lamborghini Countach? And are you keen on hanging a picture of it in your house or bedroom?
