The all-new Honda HR-V is now out in Indonesia. But as we’ve already reported before, the Philippine launch for the next-gen HR-V won’t happen until April 19, 2022.
The 2022 Honda HR-V RS Turbo recently launched in Indonesia
So, what can we expect from the Philippine-spec 2022 Honda HR-V? Here are some of the possible features that might be included in the upcoming all-new HR-V.
To start off, the all-new HR-V for the Philippines will only come in two variants. There’s the entry-level HR-V S CVT, and the top-spec HR-V V Turbo CVT.
This contrasts the Indonesian market which received four different trims. There’s the HR-V S, HR-V E, HR-V SE, and the HR-V RS Turbo.
The HR-V S for the Indonesian market
Unlike our ASEAN neighbor, we doubt that the RS Turbo variant will get to the Philippines at launch. To this end, both the upcoming HR-V S and the HR-V V will assume the same, understated, but elegant look as the Indonesian-spec HR-V S or HR-V E. We are hopeful though, that at least our HR-V V will also get a two-tone color scheme like the Indonesian-spec HR-V SE.
As for exterior equipment, we’re expecting nothing less than LED headlamps as standard. Add on to that a pair of LED fog lamps, auto-folding side mirrors, and at least a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. We are doubtful though if we’re also getting the hands-free access power tailgate present on the Indo-spec RS Turbo.

Like the one released in Indonesia, the Philippine-spec HR-V will no doubt be able to seat up to five. We are also speculating that our version is also getting the same versatility in adjusting and arranging the seats.
Of note, Honda’s new crossover in Indonesia has the long mode, the utility mode, and the tall mode. These are the three different seat configurations inside the new HR-V. The long mode is able to accommodate something as lengthy as a surfboard, while the utility mode folds down the second for plenty of cargo volume. The tall mode meanwhile folds the second row up in order to accommodate tall cargo like house plants and the like. The said seating configuration is also present in the Honda City hatchback.

We are also hopeful that our version of the HR-V will come with a panoramic glass roof. In Indonesia, this feature is present on the HR-V SE.
Like the HR-V SE, we would also like to see our own top-spec variant get an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Then again, we are convinced that the top-spec Philippine-spec HR-V is getting leather seats. In turn, the entry-level might only come with fabric seats, as well as a simpler headunit.
Furthermore, it isn’t likely that the Philippine-spec 2022 HR-V will be getting a customizable, seven-inch gauge cluster. That gadget after all, is only available on the Indo-spec RS Turbo variant.
For safety though, we are quite certain that both the HR-V S and HR-V V for the local market will be getting the new and improved Honda Sensing driver-assist suite. This includes collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, among others.

With regards to engines, our version of the entry-level HR-V S is likely getting a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine that’s paired with a continuously variable transmission sending power to the front wheels. That’s the same configuration as the Indonesian-spec HR-V S.
At the most, the said powertrain can deliver up to 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque at least for the Indonesian version. That said, our HR-V S is likely to come with the same output.
As for the top-spec HR-V V, it will be getting the same 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline mill as Indonesia’s RS Turbo variant. It will come with the same transmission as the HR-V S, though it will be able to make 175 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

And last but not the least, the pricing for the Philippine-spec HR-V S will stand at Php 1,300,000. The top-spec HR-V V meanwhile will be priced at Php 1,600,000.
Again, the specs of the 2022 Honda HR-V that we’ve detailed here are speculative. As such, one should take them with a healthy grain of salt.
