The Covenant Car Company, Inc., the official distributor of Chevrolet vehicles in the Philippines, has confirmed that the 2022 Trailblazer will see a local launch sometime this month. We also reported that Chevy’s new crossover SUV will be sourced from Korea, specifically from the General Motors manufacturing facility located in the said country.
The Korea-spec Chevrolet Trailblazer RS
In those reports however, there was no mention of pricing. But recently, a news article from Autoindustriya has shed light on this. Specifically, the said source reported that the new Trailblazer will be coming with two variants. There’s the entry-level Trailblazer LT, which will be priced at Php 1,488,888, and the higher-spec Trailblazer Premier, which in turn will carry a Php 1,621,888 price tag.
With regards to those prices, it would seem that the Trailblazer sits at the higher end of the local subcompact crossover SUV spectrum. We expected this, as the Trailblazer won’t be able to take advantage of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement because as mentioned, it is sourced from Korea.

To put it into perspective, its would-be Chinese-sourced local rivals like the Ford Territory has a price range of Php 1,277,000 to Php 1,310,000. Then there’s the Japanese-branded Suzuki Vitara which is still more affordable than the upcoming Trailblazer with a price tag that ranges from Php 1,458,000 to Php 1,468,000.
As for the specs of these two Trailblazer trims, the marque is yet to release any details. We do know though that this Chevrolet-branded crossover comes in five variants in South Korea. Out of the five, the top-spec model is the RS which comes with a black-colored roof and a two-tone paint scheme.
The top Trailblazer trim for the Korean market also gets an eight-inch touchscreen headunit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a seven-piece Bose sound system.
Inside the 2022 Trailblazer
Under the hood, the Korea-spec Trailblazer then uses a 1.3-liter EcoTec turbocharged engine capable of making up to 162 horsepower and 240 Nm. It is then paired together with a continuously variable transmission or 9-speed automatic transmission.
There’s a good chance that the Philippine-spec version will get the same engine, but we aren’t sure about which gearbox we’re getting. On that note, we’re also hoping that the local version of the Trailblazer can also come with all-wheel-drive since that drivetrain is available for the Korean-spec version.
