The 2023 Honda Civic is a compact, five-door sedan. It is now in its eleventh-generation. For the Philippine market, the Civic has a price range of Php 1,583,000 to Php 1,775,000. It has three variants consisting of the V Turbo, and the RS Turbo as the top-spec trim. All of them are equipped with the Honda Sensing driver assist safety suite, and all use a 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 175 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. All trims use a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Size-wise, the 2023 Civic is 4,678mm long, 1,802mm wide, and 1,415mm in height. It wheelbase length measures 2,735mm long, and it has a ground clearance of 134mm. Competitors of the Honda Civic for the Philippine market includes the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Mazda3, Kia Forte, Nissan Sylphy, among others.

 

Launch

In 2023, Honda Philippines brought in the eleventh-generation Civic for the 2023 model year. As a totally new model, the 2023 Civic comes with a sleeker exterior design, more safety technologies, as well as an improved drivetrain. Specifically, all trims are now turbocharged.

Toyota Civic Exterior

The Philippine-spec 2023 Civic gains the sleeker, more understated look that contrasts that more youthful design of the previous model. Despite that, it still exhibits sportiness. In particular, the RS Turbo variant comes with black-colored exterior pieces.

Other exterior features for the 2023 Civic Philippines includes LED taillights and LED daytime running lights etc. The top-spec version also gets LED headlamps with an auto on/off function, rain-sensing wipers, and a set of 18-inch black alloy wheels.

Technology & Safety Features

For entertainment, the Honda Civic 2023's top-spec trim gets a nine-inch touchscreen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The other trim then come with a smaller seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both screens also have Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as audio streaming capability. The larger screen of the RS Turbo then gets a Bose 12-piece speaker system, while the mid-spec V Turbo gets eight speakers. 

Moving on to safety, the RS Turbo is the only variant that gets a lane watch camera.  All trims however, come standard with a multi-view reverse camera. Other safety equipment that's present on all 2023 Civic trims includes anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, stability control, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a car alarm, as well as an engine immobilizer.

Standard on both 2023 Civic variants is the Honda Sensing driver assist suite. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, auto high beam control, and lead car departure notification. 

All Civic trims get dual front airbags and side airbags, but only the top-spec Civic RS Turbo comes with side curtain airbags.

Toyota Civic Interior

Inside, the all-new 2023 Civic Philippines can comfortably seat up to five. Both trims then come standard with 60:40 split folding rear seats with a rear armrest, and digital display clusters. The top-spec RS Turbo has a larger digital display cluster though, and its seats are also clad in leather and suede.

The RS Turbo variant also has an electronically adjustable driver's seat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a roof console. All trims also have 12-volt charging ports, but only the RS Turbo comes with a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system. The V Turbo meanwhile, gets a single-zone automatic air-conditioning system.

Honda Civic Platform & Chassis

Like the older Civic models, the new Honda Civic 2023 still uses a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. For suspensions, this Honda sedan uses a MacPherson strut for the front, and multi-link for the rear. Braking is then handled by disc brakes for all four wheels. 

Lastly, all trims use an electric parking brake with auto brake hold function.

Honda Civic Engine & Drivetrain

Standard on the Honda Civic 2023 is the 1.5-liter turbocharged L-series DOHC VTEC engine. At maximum, it can make up to 175 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. All come standard with a continuously variable transmission, and only the top-spec Civic RS Turbo comes with paddle shifters.
