The Chery Tiggo 2 Pro is the latest crossover in Chery Philippine’s lineup. Like the Tiggo 2, the Tiggo 2 Pro is a subcompact crossover that can seat up to five occupants. For the Philippine market, the sole variant of this model is the Tiggo 2 Pro 1.5 CVT and it has a price tag of Php 840,000.
Like the Tiggo 2, the Tiggo 2 Pro uses a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine. At the maximum, it can produce up to 108 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Of note, this new model uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) instead of the four-speed automatic that the older Tiggo 2 uses.
Size-wise, the new Tiggo 2 Pro 4,200mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,570mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,555mm, and a curb weight of 1,260kg.
The Chery Tiggo 2 Pro competes against the likes of the Geely Coolray, Volkswagen T-Cross, MG ZS, Kia Stonic, Hyundai Venue, and many other subcompact crossover models.
Launch
The Chery Tiggo 2 Pro was introduced locally on November 2021. It is based on the Tiggo 2, but it comes with several improvements. Notable among this is a more modern-looking exterior design. It also uses a CVT instead of the four-speed automatic gearbox found on the older Tiggo 2.
Exterior
At first glance, the Tiggo 2 Pro is a very modern crossover that bears that same design cues from the larger Tiggo 7 Pro. It also has a pair of sharp-looking LED daytime running lamps, and a mesh-type grille. Other exterior equipment found on the Tiggo 2 Pro includes halogen headlamps, LED taillights, a rear spoiler, and a pair of roof rails. It then rides on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
Inside, the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro 2023 can seat up to five occupants. It then gets leather and fabric covers for its seats, a push-to-start button, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a manual adjustable driver’s seat, and a manual air-conditioning system. The trunk also has an remote unlocking function, and you also get a remote engine start button, plus keyless entry.
Technology and Safety
For on-board entertainment, the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro is equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen headunit with Apple CarPlay and QD Link Smartphone mirroring. The said headunit is then connected to a four-piece speaker system. It also has Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The driver is then provided with a 3.5-inch digital instrument screen and cruise control.
Safety-wise, this Chery model is kitted out with dual-front airbags, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, ISOFIX child seat tethers, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, a car alarm, and an engine immobilizer.
Platform and Chassis
The Chery Tiggo 2 Pro is a front-wheel-drive, five-seater sub-compact crossover. For its suspension system, it uses a MacPherson strut for the front, and a torsion beam for the rear. Braking is then handled by discs brakes for all wheels.
