The BMW X3 2023 is a premium crossover which the brand categorizes as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in their lineup. Its powerful proportions mean a larger wheelbase and a generously spaced cabin. Complementing the muscular form are refined interiors and a slew of on-board entertainment and safety features. Among which is the iDrive driving assistance system that provides easy access to the vehicle’s controls for infotainment and navigation. Locally available are two variants which are the BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine base variant and the BMW X3 xDrive20d M Sport top range. Powering both models is a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel engine that is paired with BMW’s signature xDrive all-wheel drive system.
Launch
The BMW X3 was first introduced globally in 2003. After years of engineering upgrades and design improvements, the crossover is currently on its third generation. The most recent generation of the X3 arrived in the Philippines in February 2018.

Exterior
The BMW X3 boasts of an athletic yet elegant look with prominent character lines balanced by smooth curves. The dominant bumper, broad shoulders, flat roofline, and large tailpipes create a robust-looking crossover that still retains the signature BMW premium aesthetic.
It is not all style, however, as every detail on the X3’s design was built with functionality in mind. BMW adapted the lightweight construction concept for optimal aerodynamics. The air vent control system of the active air stream kidney grille enables faster air movement for utmost performance.
Its lighting system comes in full LED’s for the headlamps, fog lights, and tail lamps. The base xLine variant rides on 18-inch alloys while the top-spec M Sport variant comes with 19-inch alloys.
Interior
BMW’s signature sophistication extends to the X3’s cabin decked in a plethora of leather and premium materials. Interior trim finishers come in a combination of aluminum rhombicle and pearl chrome accents. Further refining the cabin’s ambiance is the ambient lighting package that comes as standard for both variants.
As a brand that prioritizes comfort and luxury, the X3’s interior is built with generous spaces and practical storage options. The driver and front passenger get Sport seats wrapped in a fabric and leather combination called 'Vernasca' Black with blue contrast stitching that matches the instrument panel in Sensatec material with blue accents.
The BMW X3 is also equipped with a fully-digital dashboard with BMW Head-up Display projects all information the driver needs including speed, speed limit warnings, navigation directions, as well as phone and entertainment controls.
Technology & Safety Features
Keeping true to its promise of functionality, convenience and comfort, the BMW X3 comes with a range of enhanced safety features that further elevate its driving experience. It is equipped with modern driver assistance systems that can be activated through a 10.25-inch LCD colored display. The touch screen is hooked to the BMW Navigation System Professional and Radio with DVD drive. It comes with over 20 GB of memory can be accessed through the iDrive Touch Controller.
The crossover’s standard safety features include an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Cornering Brake Control and Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, Stability Control, and Hill Descent Control.
Platform & Chassis
The 4-door crossover is equipped with an adaptive suspension for the base xLine variant, and an M Sport suspension for the top-spec variant. An option for adaptive suspension comes with the M Sport variant. Stopping power comes from discs all around.
Engine & Drivetrain
Powering the BMW X3 is a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel engine that can produce 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-Speed Steptronic automatic transmission that sends power to all wheels through the BMW intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system.
One unique engine feature of the X3 is the Driving Experience Control wherein the driver can choose among three drive modes- Comfort, Eco Pro, and Sport. The new interactive Adaptive Mode function constantly makes adjustments on the adaptive suspension, the steering, and the transmission to suit any driving condition.
