Local automotive market is seeing an emergence of electric vehicles

Land Rover Philippines commits further into the electric vehicle (EV) market as it officially launched the 2020 Range Rover and the 2020 Range Rover Sport Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). These vehicles are the brand’s second phase in bringing in electric vehicles, first being the Range Rover Evoque mild-hybrid EV that was launched last year.

The 2020 Range Rover Sport PHEV

Both Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport PHEV are equipped with a 2.0-liter Ingenium turbocharged gasoline engine that’s complemented by a 85 kW electric motor. As such, both vehicles can deliver 399 hp and 640 Nm of torque. The one-two punch combo of the engine and the electric motor allows the 2020 Range Rover and the 2020 Range Rover Sport PHEV to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 and 6.8 seconds, respectively. On the other hand, Land Rover PH says both vehicles have a top speed of 220 km/h. It is also capable of regenerative braking, which allows the vehicle to harness energy during deceleration.

The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport PHEV is fitted with a 13 kWH high-voltage lithium-ion battery that can be charged through a Type 2 Plug 7 kWh wall charger, which is already included when you purchase the vehicle. You can charge the Range Rover PHEV from zero to full in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Of note, the installation costs of the wall charger are not yet included when you purchase the vehicle. The reason for this is that installation may vary per household. Moreover, Land Rover PH’s supplier will be evaluating interested households first if their homes are qualified for a charger before purchasing the Range Rover PHEV.

Clients may also purchase an additional charger for their second homes or offices. A second charger costs Php 105,000 (installation not included). The logic behind getting an additional charger is to be able to charge your I-Pace once you reach your second home that’s located for example outside of Metro Manila since there are few to none electric charging stations yet in the country.

2020 Range Rover Sport PHEV has an all-electric range of up to 50 km

The vehicles come with two driving modes: Parallel Hybrid mode and Electric Vehicle mode. The Parallel Hybrid mode, which is the default, combines petrol and electric drive. This allows both plug-in hybrid models to reach up to 700 km. The second mode is the EV mode, which enables the vehicle to run purely via electric power. This provides an all-electric range of up to 50 km.

The Range Rover PHEV is available in Vogue standard wheelbase at Php 11,990,000 and Autobiography long wheelbase at Php 15,190,000. On the other hand, the Range Rover Sport PHEV comes in at Php 9,490,000.

The 2020 Jaguar I-Pace with the 2020 Range Rover Sport PHEV

The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport were revealed alongside the Jaguar I-Pace just recently released. The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle and it has a sticker price of Php Php 7,590,000.
