The GT-R T-spec limited edition debuts in Japan.

Nissan’s Godzilla is not yet ready to retire as the Japanese automaker launched another new GT-R. Dubbed as the 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec, it is available with two trims GT-R Premium Edition T-spec, and GT-R Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec. The two GT-R T-spec will be limited to 100 units and will be sold by lottery in Japan.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec still comes with the same familiar design that most of us are already aware of. The aggressive-looking front end that’s complemented by sweptback headlights, a wide grille, and a large bumper are still integrated into the GT-R T-spec. Of note, the grille is mounted with a T-spec badging. Overall, the new GT-R is like a tamed version of the GT-R NISMO special edition that was revealed last April.

The thing that Nissan is banking on the GT-R T-spec is that it comes available with special edition exterior colors: Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade. The Midnight Purple is the modern version of the old hue that Nissan used on previous generations of GT-Rs specifically the R34, and it is inspired by the color-shifting of the aurora borealis. The Millennium Jade, on the other hand, is a color that was last used on the R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür. Nissan also said that it exudes sophistication and conveys a quiet, yet powerful presence.

The 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec is also fitted with side skirts but the bronze-colored forged alloy wheels are the highlight of the vehicle’s side profile. You can also see the prominent carbon-ceramic brakes when you view this GT-R from the side.

It still has the familiar rear design

The rear still has the GT-R’s iconic round taillights, a design detail that can be considered synonymous with Nissan’s Godzilla. The spoiler is made with carbon fiber material, and the bumper allows the GT-R T-spec to have an assertive appeal from behind. The vehicle also comes with quad exhaust pipes, and a T-spec badging.

Interior

The 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec comes with a Mori Green interior color

Step inside and you’ll be greeted with the familiar cabin layout of the GT-R, which can be traced as far back as 2017. It still has the same driver-oriented dashboard, steering wheel design, instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen, circular side aircon vents, among others. What’s new in the 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec is the Mori Green interior color that’s complemented by leather, suede, and Alcantara. And yes, it also has a T-spec badge that can be seen near the gear lever.

Tech & Safety

The 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec features the same tech and safety features as compared to the standard GT-R. It still has the same 8-inch infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel with mounted controls, active noise cancellation system, active sound enhancement tech, among others. Other standard safety technologies include stability control, electronic traction control system, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, etc.

Nissan GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO T-spec

Of note, Nissan said that the GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO T-spec is developed with a focus on enhanced driving performance. On the other hand, the Premium Edition T-spec is designed for smooth driving. The difference when it comes to driving characteristics between the two T-spec limited editions can be found in the suspension setup.

Engine

Same power unit under the hood

The engine is still the same, which is the 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbocharged gasoline power unit that delivers 565 hp and 633 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
