Refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos makes PH debut with P1.198M starting price

New to this updated Kia model is a turbocharged engine. 

The refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos has officially arrived in the Philippines. It received plenty of improvements including two new engine options, a redesigned exterior, and more comfort and safety features.

This updated crossover is available in three different variants. There’s the top-spec SX, the mid-spec EX, and the entry-level LX. As of the launch, these trims range from Php 1,198,000 to Php 1,688,000. 

So what does the refreshed Seltos offer to prospective buyers? Let’s find out by going through its specs. 

Exterior

Starting with its looks, Kia has opted to provide the updated Seltos with a bolder look. This was achieved via a larger tiger nose grille which is flanked by a pair of bolder headlamp clusters. Depending on the trim, the cluster gets LED headlights and LED daytime running lamps. Further below are LED fog lamps, as well as a satin-finished lower front bumper.

Over to the side, the Kia Seltos’ familiar silhouette was kept, but it now rides on a more refined-looking set of 17-inch alloy wheels. This portion of the higher-grade Seltos trims also features power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, roof rails, chrome door handles, and a satin-finished beltline molding. 

Onto the rear, the top-spec trim gets a new satin-finished faux skidplate. It also gets a revised LED taillight design that now wraps across the entire width of the vehicle.   

Other exterior features on the updated Kia crossover include a panoramic sunroof for the top-spec variant, a rear spoiler, a rear window defogger, and a fin-type antenna, among others.

Size-wise, the refreshed Seltos is 4,385mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,620mm in height (w/o roof rail). Its wheelbase spans 2,630mm, and it offers a ground clearance of 190mm. 

Available exterior color options for the refreshed Seltos are Snow White Pearl, Gravity Gray, and Pluton Blue. Exclusive to the SX is a two-tone color comprised of Snow White Pearl and a black-colored roof. 

Interior

Step inside the refreshed Seltos and you’ll be greeted by a sleeker, more stylish-looking cabin with a silver and black-themed dashboard. 

Drivers of the higher-grade trims get an illuminated push-to-start button, leather seating, a leather tilt and telescopic steering wheel and shift knob, as well as a cooled and power-adjustable driver’s seat.

All trims come with a front cabin central armrest and an electronic parking brake, but only the top-of-the-line SX trim is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster.

Standard on all variants is a five-seater capacity. The entry-level LX gets a 60:40 split-folding rear seat, while the mid-spec EX and SX get more versatile “multi-angle” and reclinable rear seats.

Other features exclusive to the top-spec SX are an LED overhead console lamp, and an LED luggage compartment lamp for better interior illumination. Cooling inside the top-spec SX is done through a dual-zone automatic climate control system, whereas the rest are kitted out with a single-zone automatic climate control system. 

Tech & Safety

New to the updated Seltos is a suite of advanced driver-assistive safety features. These are present aboard the SX only. These include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, and forward collision avoidance assist.

Available as standard on the Seltos are anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, an engine immobilizer, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The updated crossover also gets a rear camera display and rear parking sensors.

Handling onboard entertainment on the 2024 Kia Seltos is a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the SX and an eight-inch touchscreen on the entry-level LX and mid-spec EX. These screens get voice recognition and Bluetooth hands-free functionality, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

Sound is then fed into the cabin by a six-piece speaker set. Keeping phones powered up aboard the Seltos is also easy, thanks to its wireless charging pad. 

Engine

The refreshed Kia Seltos for the 2024 model year gets two new engine options. The first is a  naturally aspirated 1.5-liter Smartstream gasoline engine for the entry-level LX and mid-spec EX. At the most, this four-banger can output 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque.

The 1.5-liter mill is paired to an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), Hyundai’s proprietary version of the continuously variable transmission (CVT). 

Underneath the top-spec SX’s hood meanwhile, is a peppier 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that’s good for 138 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque. Instead of an IVT, this trim utilizes a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The SX is also the only trim that gets selectable drive modes.

Like the pre-facelift model, the updated version assumes a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. It likewise carries over a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. For all trims, stopping power is provided by disc brakes for all four wheels.

Price

The 2024 Kia Seltos, as mentioned above, is available in three different trims. The entry-level LX is priced at Php 1,198,000 and the mid-spec EX at Php 1,288,000. The top-of-the-line SX meanwhile, retails at Php 1,688,000.
