Honda Cars Philippines is ready for a subcompact sedan slugfest.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) is celebrating its 30th year in the local automotive industry with a bang as it officially launches then fifth-generation 2021 Honda City alongside the facelifted Honda CR-V. HCPI’s subcompact sedan comes with a sleeker exterior design along with a revamped interior and an updated in-cabin features. From the looks of it, this vehicle looks well suited to go up against its rivals in the subcompact sedan segment.

Say hello to the 2021 Honda City RS

HCPI is offering the 2021 City in four variants (RS CVT, V CVT, S CVT, and S MT). All of the PH-spec all-new Honda City is equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine. The said power unit generates 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. All 2021 City comes with a continuously variable transmission except for the entry-level S variant that has a six-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of dimensions, the new Honda City is longer by 113mm and wider by 53mm as compared to the old model. Of note, the 2021 City is shorter by 10mm in terms of height and its ground clearance decreased by 16mm.

The exterior of the 2021 Honda City looks sleeker and sportier as compared to the outgoing model. The front end of this subcompact sedan shares a bit of similarity to its bigger sibling, the current Honda Civic. All variants of the 2021 City look identical to one another except for the RS trim.

The 2021 Honda City RS variant is an aggressive-looking car

If you’re familiar with Honda’s lineup, the RS version is by default integrated with sportier kits and design. As such, the front end of the 2021 City RS comes with full LED headlights, LED fog lamps, a more prominent fog light garnish, a glossy black mesh grille, and a sporty bumper. On the other hand, the non-RS City variants also come with a striking facia but it doesn’t have fog lamps. Moreover, non-RS trims are integrated with halogen projector headlamps.

Turning at the side, the 2021 City continues to flaunt better styling cues than its predecessor. The City is characterized by a sharp line that gives the vehicle a bold and composed finish. Moreover, HCPI’s subcompact sedan can sit in a set of 16- or 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels depending on the variant.

The sleek and sporty design cues continue to be seen at the 2021 City’s rear. Similar to its fascia, the City’s new rear design looks better than ever. The LED taillights will surely get your attention when you view the vehicle from the back. You also can’t help but notice the City’s large bumper as well as the RS-exclusive trunk spoiler and diffuser.

The 2021 Honda City comes with a new dashboard layout

Inside, the 2021 Honda City has a dark cabin theme and it has a restyled dashboard layout. Honda redesigned the City’s aircon vents as well as the climate control buttons. Almost all of the variants of this subcompact sedan is integrated with an 8-inch infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

On the other hand, the entry-level S MT variant is equipped with 2DIN Audio. In case you’re wondering, the 2021 City has fabric seats except for the RS variant which comes with leather and suede. In addition, all variants of the 2021 Honda City features a push start button.

In terms of safety, the all-new Honda City is packed with features that will make your drives safer. It is equipped with an ensemble of airbags (driver, front passenger, and side) while the top-spec RS variant comes with an additional side curtain airbag. All variants are integrated with safety features such as stability assist, hill start assist, anti-lock brake system, and electronic brakeforce distribution. As usual, the RS trim gets an added feature, which is the multi-view rear camera.

  • Platinum White Pearl (new color; available for RS and V variants only)
  • Crystal Black Pearl

  • Taffeta White (available for S CVT and S MT only)

  • 1.5 RS CVT – Php 1,048,000
  • 1.5 V CVT – Php 968,000
  • 1.5 S CVT – Php 878,000
  • 1.5 S MT – Php 838,000
