The crossover is slotted above the Tracker and Trailblazer.

Chevrolet Philippines has introduced another contender in the local compact crossover segment with the all-new Trax.

All-new Chevrolet Trax

Manufactured at the General Motors (GM) plant in South Korea, the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax is slotting above the Tracker and Trailblazer in the brand's crossover lineup. Competing against the likes of the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson, the Trax arrives with bigger dimensions, sharper-looking aesthetics, and a load of safety features.

The Philippines is also the first country in Southeast Asia to launch the all-new 2024 Trax, according to Chevrolet Philippines president and CEO Atty. Alberto Arcilla.

Exterior

Now in its second-generation form, the Chevrolet Trax departs from the round-looking body of the outgoing model in favor of a sharp and sleek design. It adopts the brand's latest global design language, making the vehicle look a lot more like its compact crossover sibling, the Trailblazer.

It is bigger than the predecessor

According to the Chevrolet PH, the all-new iteration is 279mm longer and 51mm wider than the first-gen. Complementing the larger dimensions is the updated all-LED exterior lighting that comes standard across the range. Meanwhile, the base LT gets 17-inch wheels, while the mid-spec and flagship RS variants come with 18-inch wheels, with the latter having a two-tone finish. The brand also boasts a unique wheel design that is said to "perfectly accentuate the overall character of the vehicle."

Interior

Thanks to the larger dimensions, the crossover is capable of offering "greater space" for five passengers and 1,405 liters of cargo space. The Redline and RS variants come with an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls. Buyers who will opt for the Trax RS will get a Jet Black interior with a dark-colored headliner and red RS markings on the dash and shifter.

However, only the top-of-the-line Trax gets to benefit from creature comforts such as a wireless phone charger, a power liftgate with a height adjust function, and an electric sunroof.

Tech & Safety

While the entry-level Trax LT comes with an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, the Redline and RS variants are installed with a larger 11-inch touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) along with an 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster. These screens are used to display the standard reverse camera function.

The crossover is said to be more spacious

As a global Chevy model, the Trax is loaded with a wide array of safety features and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions. Among the safety features are six SRS airbags, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front pedestrian detection, and vehicle forward movement detection.

Other tech features include an electronic parking brake with an auto hold function and a smart key passive entry.

Engine & Powertrain

Under the hood is a 1.2-liter E-Turbo GM Prime three-cylinder engine paired with a Gen III six-speed automatic transmission. The power unit is capable of generating 137 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.

It arrives with a sporty appeal

Chevrolet said the prospective buyers can expect "excellent power-on-demand and outstanding fuel efficiency."
