Exterior
The next-gen Ford Ranger now looks similar to its full-size pickup truck sibling, the new Ford F-150, thanks to the new matrix LED headlight with the brand’s signature C-clamp daytime running lights (DRLs). A busy front face can be seen with the addition of blacked-out bumper-like cladding and a wide radiator grille.

A subtle shoulder line down the sides incorporates bolder-wheel arches that give the midsize pickup truck a more rugged finish. Meanwhile, the rear end sports redesigned taillights for a more modern finish. Ford said that it will offer three trim levels with distinctive design packages, namely the stylish XLT, rugged Sport, and adventurer Wildtrak.
Interior
For the latest iteration, the chassis has been upgraded to offer a 50mm longer wheelbase and a 50mm wider body than the outgoing Ford Ranger. The changes in the overall dimensions may not be significant, but Ford said that it makes a huge difference in hauling cargo and passengers more efficiently.

Maximizing the interior space is the theme of the designers when developing the cabin. Some of which improved spaces include phone storage with wireless charger, a large center console bin, door pockets that are designed to carry more items, and storage bins under behind the rear seats.
Tech & Safety
One of the biggest updates can be seen in the infotainment system of the next-gen Ford Ranger. Either a 10.1-inch or 12-inch touchscreen is integrated into the center console. It is equipped with Ford’s latest award-winning SYNC4 system that offers voice-activated functions, entertainment, and essential information.
The smartest Ranger to date
Moreover, the system comes with the FordPass which can be used to link through smartphones via the FordPass App. The said app can be connected to the truck 24/7 to remotely operate the climate control, receive service notifications, unlock the truck, and activate the Zone lighting that provides 360-degree lighting around the vehicle.
Engine & Powertrain
Under the hood, the Blue Oval company is taking the midsize pickup truck to the next level with the addition of the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine. According to Ford Ranger Program Manager Pritika Maharaj, the larger engine will make those behind the wheel feel like they are driving a bigger truck.
It now gets a V6 option
No exact power outputs have been disclosed just yet. Ford said that the exact specifications will be revealed for each market prior to the all-new Ranger’s local debut.
A more capable truck
The single-turbo and bi-turbo 2.0-liter inline-4 diesel engines are still available for the next-gen version. Also, Ford will still be offering the 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-4 gasoline engine. It is the same engine found in the brand’s renowned performance car, the Ford Mustang. Available transmissions include an updated 10-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
