The midsize pickup class is one of the more active battlegrounds for Ford Philippines, and it predictably won’t be satisfied with fielding just the Ranger against its competitors. The Blue Oval brand is capitalizing on the opportunity to bring in a full-size contender, as it unveils the all-new F-150 to our market.
The all-new Ford F-150 finally comes to our market with a diesel engine
It seemed only yesterday that Ford unveiled the 13th generation F-150, which brought such niceties as power-deploying running boards and massage seats. While the newer 14th generation still rides on the same T3 platform, the crucial difference is that the new F-150 finally comes as a diesel model, fulfilling the hopes of many customers who may have hesitated at purchasing an otherwise impressive rig.
Exterior
The 2022 F-150 stands 5,885mm long, 2,029mm wide, and up to 1,961mm high on a 3,693mm wheelbase. Changes to the design are not overly radical, but enough to distinguish it from the previous generation.
A redesigned fascia showcases the new LED headlamps
Updated headlamps surrounding the new grille feature prominent LED daytime running lights, accompanied by sleeker LED foglamps on the wraparound front bumper. The fascia is followed by higher front fenders and a slimmer midsection, further emphasizing the new F-150’s muscular stance.
The tailgate can even function as a work bench in the field
New tailgate appliques can be found at the rear, with redesigned LED taillights exuding a stronger yet more streamlined appearance. New side-mounted tailgate cleats serve as tie-down points for extra-long cargo, while an available tailgate work surface converts the new F-150 into a mobile workshop.
LED cargo box lighting and class-exclusive available Zone Lighting provide all-around illumination in low-light situations. The 2022 F-150 wears a set of 20-inch dark alloy aluminum wheels shod in all-terrain tires.
Interior
Ford says that it has completely redesigned the interior of the 2022 F-150 to bring comfort, utility, and technology to the next level for its customers. Soil-resistant two-tone seats and a standard dual glovebox reaffirm the truck’s reputation as a work vehicle.
Occupants will appreciate the revamped cabin with its leather uphosltery and storage spaces
Leather trim is standard across all seats, with front occupants getting heating and ventilation functions while those in the rear get a heated and 60/40 split-fold bench. The Stowable Shifter on the center console helps free up more space, whether for doing field work or simply enjoying meals while parked.
Tech & Safety
A 12-inch digital productivity screen serves as the 2022 F-150’s instrument panel, showing essential vehicle data along with off-road vehicle orientation, towing information, and navigation guidance.
Believe it or not, that shift lever is stowable to free up more space on the center console
Flanked by the redesigned climate control vents on the center stack is another 12-inch touchscreen running Ford’s SYNC 4 software with enhanced voice recognition. Aside from being compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the display also features split-screen capability for multitasking, while patched to a set of eight Bang & Olufsen speakers.
A massive 12-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard
The 2022 F-150 still offers an extensive list of safety features including up to six airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, and Ford’s AdvanceTrac system with Rear Stability Control. Driver-assist technologies are also present, such as auto-high beam headlamps, a 360-degree camera system, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Information System, and Active Park Assist 2.0. These are on top of the truck’s high-strength all-aluminum body.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood, the new F-150 carries a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6 equipped with Auto-Start Technology.

The oil burner is rated at 250 horsepower and 596 Nm of torque, partnered with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that features Progressve Range Select to spin all four wheels. Selectable drive modes allow users to configure the truck’s performance over a range of driving conditions and terrain.
