The Jimny is one of the vehicles that one can think of when you talk about Suzuki’s model lineup. Its distinctive design and compact size coupled with 4x4 off-road capability made the Jimny among the popular vehicles in the Philippines.
The all-new fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny was launched in the Philippines last March 2019. Since then, it has generated a following, especially for individuals who are on the market for a compact 4x4 off-road vehicle. In 2019, Suzuki Philippines said that the Jimny “instantly became the brand’s global favorite entry.”
From 2020 to 2021, the Suzuki PH was able to sell more than 3,500 Jimny units. The Japanese car brand rolled out 1,099 Jimny units in 2020 while 2,477 units were sold in 2021, translating to a 125.4 percent increase.
The demand for the Jimny continues to be seen this year with customers patiently waiting in line to drive home a brand-new unit. Of course, there are a number of reasons to explain the waiting list, one of which is the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupting vehicle production and resulting in the delay of stock replenishment.
So, wait, what about the white Suzuki Jimny? We learned that the white-colored Jimny is in demand among the individuals on the waiting list. Suzuki PH told Philkotse that the white Jimny has a high demand in any of its dealerships nationwide.
As of this writing, one Suzuki dealership has four individuals who want to have their brand-new Jimny in white. Suzuki PH added that the number is even greater in other dealerships but the car brand did not share an actual figure.
Suzuki PH also has no explanation as to why there is a high demand for the white Jimny. Aside from the customers’ preference, one reason could be its price positioning.
The white Jimny is one of the available colors for the GLX (Monotone) and GL (Monotone) trim, which are the mid- and entry-level variants, respectively. For reference, below is the Suzuki Jimny pricing:
- Jimny GL (Monotone) 5MT - Php 1,170,000
- Jimny GL (Monotone) 4AT - Php 1,217,000
- Jimny GLX (Monotone) 4AT - 1,275,000
- Jimny GLX (2 Tone) 4AT - Php 1,285,000
That said, pricing could be one of the factors that can explain why the white Jimny has a high demand. To put things in perspective, the GL 5MT trim is priced at Php 1,170,000, which is Php 88,000 lower than the top-spec two-tone Jimny GLX. The Php 88,000 difference can be allotted to aftermarket off-road accessories that could make the Jimny even more capable, and more unique.
Another reason could be that the color white is regarded as the most popular car color. A study conducted by Axalta Coating Systems stated that the top automotive colors last 2021 are white (35 percent), black (19 percent), and gray (19 percent). The study even stated that the color white is the most popular vehicle paint in Asia with 45 percent.
