PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS), the car brand’s distributor in Indonesia, announced that the refreshed Ertiga has made its ASEAN debut first in its market.
The new Suzuki Ertiga made its way to Indonesia
For a short recap, the refreshed Suzuki Ertiga was first unveiled in India last April 2022. It brings cosmetic changes, as well as a new hybrid powertrain that is expected to deliver better fuel efficiency and help reduce carbon emissions. Now, the 2022 model is geared to showcase its improved capabilities to Indonesians.
Under the hood lies the brand’s Suzuki Smart Hybrid system which consists of a 1.0-liter K15B gasoline engine, an integrated starter generator (ISG), and a 6-Ah 12-volt lithium-ion battery. Overall, the powertrain can generate 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. Included in the gearbox options are a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
2022 Suzuki Ertiga
As for the design changes, the MPV's exterior receives a new front grille design, revamped 15-inch alloy wheels, and new auto-retractable side mirrors. It is also etched with the ‘Hybrid’ emblem to boast its eco-friendly characteristics. Meanwhile, the Japanese marque introduced new colors and ornaments in the interior.
The safety department has also been improved with the addition of features such as an electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control, a new GSI (gear shift indicator), cruise control, and automatic headlamps with Guide Me Lights.
“In the midst of the continuous increase in fuel prices, the all-new Ertiga is a smart choice that is very suitable for current conditions. The benefits will be felt more optimal when used in [traffic] conditions,” said PT SIS Deputy Director of Sales and Marketing Hady S Halim (translated to English).

PT SIS is offering the 2022 Ertiga in two variants, with a price that ranges from 270,300 Indonesian Rupiah (around Php 981,000) to 292,300 Indonesian Rupiah (Php 1,060,000). Now that the new Ertiga has officially made its ASEAN debut in Indonesia, could there be a possibility that it will also make its way to the Philippines?

The Suzuki Ertiga 2024 Philippines by auto industry stalwart Suzuki is a seven-seat, five-door, compact MPV. For the Philippine market, it is offered in three variants that all use a 1.5-liter K15B inline-4 engine capable of making up to 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The Suzuki Ertiga was first introduced back in 2012 in India. The Philippine-spec model was then launched in 2014. Later in 2019, the 2nd-generation model for this Suzuki-made MPV entered the local market. It sports a completely new exterior design and a new engine, and it uses the new HEARTECT platform.

The 2nd-gen Suzuki Ertiga for the Philippine market has changed a lot from its previous version. It has a more modern-looking front fascia, and rear end, as well as a more contemporary-looking roofline. For safety, the Suzuki-made MPV comes standard with an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, SRS airbags, ISOFIX tethers, and door beams for side impacts. Moreover, the GL variants also come with two parking sensors and a security alarm.
Platform & Chassis
The 2nd-gen Suzuki Ertiga for the Philippine market uses the new HEARTECT chassis. This new chassis was designed for safety and also provides a smooth, comfortable ride.
Suspension-wise, the Ertiga uses a MacPherson strut type for the front, and a torsion beam rear suspension. For braking, the Suzuki model uses a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. Its hand brake is a hand-operated manual type. Lastly, this model also uses a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.
