The next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor has been confirmed to be offered in the United States. It comes equipped with a V6 gasoline engine, which is the same power unit that’s offered in Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, and Europe.
But, the American market gets a more potent power output from the V6 gasoline engine compared to other markets that do get the said option. The U.S.-spec next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor’s 3.0-liter bit-turbo V6 gasoline engine puts out 405 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque.
While the claimed torque rating is the same, the U.S. gets a power boost from the V6 engine seen in other markets rated at 392 hp. That said, the next-gen Ranger Raptor for the U.S. market comes with an additional 13 hp.
Hennessey, a Texas-based high-performance manufacturer, seems to be not that impressed with the Ranger Raptors stock power output rating. This is despite having more potent power from the stock V6 engine compared to other markets. Hennessey announced that its VelociRaptor 500 Ranger generates a power output that will dwarf other Ranger Raptors with a V6 engine.
The company further enhanced the next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor’s stock 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine to deliver more punch and pulling power. Hennessey designed a new high-flow air induction system along with a larger front-mounted intercooler. It has also fitted an engine management software upgrade.
Through the said enhancements, Hennessey said that the tuned or enhanced 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 gasoline produces a whopping 500 hp and 745 Nm of torque. A significant power boost from the U.S.-spec next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor’s stock V6 engine. To put things in perspective, Hennessey was able to add 95 hp and increase the torque rating by 162 Nm.
Priced from USD 24,950 (around Php 1.4 million), the VelociRaptor 500 based on the next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor includes an enhanced air induction, a high-capacity intercooler with a blow-off valve, and an upgraded engine management system. Hennessey also adds bits of exterior upgrades such as custom VelociRaptor bumpers, LED off-road lights, Hennessey 18-inch alloy wheels, 35-inch off-road tires, and 'VelociRaptor 500' badging.
