The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has officially set the guidelines of its three-strike policy and will start implementing it on May 15, 2021. This is issued by TRB to establish a mechanism to mainly educate RFID users regarding their responsibilities and obligations.
Motorists who enter toll roads with an insufficient RFID load for the third time will be penalized with a Php 1,000 fine. According to the TRB’s guidelines, the driver’s license will be confiscated and LTO Traffic Violation Tickets will be issued to erring motorists.
The three-strike policy will be effective starting May 15
For the first offense, an LTO-deputized traffic enforcer will remind violators regarding their insufficient RFID balance and will record the offense in the database system. Violators will also be issued a TRB-prescribed document as proof of violation. This is the same case for the second offense and the traffic enforcer will remind violators that it will be their final warning.
To minimize violations like these to occur, the TRB assures RFID users that real-time load crediting is observed by all reloading facilities. The government agency will also provide a monthly statement to all RFID users via email and ensure that the Electronic Toll Collection System is working in accordance with the approved Minimum Performance Standard and Specifications (MPSS).
Reload to avoid inconvenience on the road
Toll operators Easytrip and Autosweep have issued various ways on how their RFID subscribers can reload their accounts outside toll plazas. Some of which include via 7-eleven stores, Gcash, supermalls such as Robinsons and SM, bank partners, and PayMaya.
Easytrip is used on toll roads managed by Metro Pacific Toll Company. These toll roads include the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), C5 Link, Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
Meanwhile, Autosweep is used on San Miguel Corporation (SMC) toll roads including the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Metro Manila Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway), and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
