Toyota introduced the Veloz X-Urban in Thailand, a new variant for the said MPV that is integrated with body kits to make the vehicle have a more aggressive finish or a rugged look. This trend is not new as it is also seen in other MPVs such as the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross and the Hyundai Stargazer X.
At first glance, you can quickly recognize the difference between the regular Veloz and the new Veloz X-Urban. The new variant comes with a beefier front end due to the integration of a more prominent black cladding that can be seen near the fog lights and the bumper. It also comes with a revised faux front skid plate, making the Veloz X-Urban have a more assertive demeanor as compared to the regular Veloz.
Turning to the side, the Veloz X-Urban has muscular fender flares due to the addition of a more noticeable black cladding. The door panels are also fitted with black cladding to further achieve a more rugged look as compared to the standard Toyota Veloz.
It sits on a set of two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels that have more character than the set found on the standard model. But what’s more interesting to note is that the Veloz X-Urban comes with a higher ground clearance than the regular Veloz.
Toyota Thailand said that the Veloz X-Urban has a ground clearance of 205mm, an increase of 15mm compared to the regular Toyota Veloz. However, the Xpander Cross still comes with a more notable ground clearance rated at 225mm.
The same story goes when you look at the Veloz X-Urban’s rear. The addition of a more prominent black cladding on the bumper differentiates this new Veloz variant from the standard trim. The X-Urban also has a beefier faux skid plate while the spoiler is integrated with a glossy black trim.
Toyota Thailand has not shared any interior photos of the Veloz X-Urban as of this writing, which could suggest that no design updates can be found inside the cabin. Moreover, the Veloz X-Urban is still powered by the same 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i gasoline engine that puts out 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
