It is expected to start at P2.1 million.

Compared to other markets, the electrification of mobility in the country is not as expansive - yet. But for Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the country’s leading car company believes that Filipinos are more than ready to further embrace electrification with its hybrid technology.

That said, TMP confirmed that it will add the new RAV4 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) to the local lineup this February. HEVs combine an internal combustion engine and electric motor to bring out the best of both worlds. This is a feature that Filipino car buyers can look forward to next month.

“The rapid succession of Toyota’s HEV model introductions in the country is an indicator that hybrid cars are now mainstream. Filipinos are ready for energy-efficient mobility options with less emissions, and Hybrids offer choices that are practical and ready to use in our existing infrastructure and road conditions,” said TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Sherwin Chualim.

The official specs of the Toyota RAV4 HEV weren’t disclosed by the Japanese marque. But the company did say that the new compact crossover variant will be equipped with new advanced safety features. One can expect that TMP is referring to Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), the car brand’s suite of driver-assistance technologies.

Upon arrival, the new RAV4 HEV will be joining the Camry, Prius, Corolla Altis, and Corolla Cross as the Toyota models in the Philippines that use a hybrid powertrain. Improved fuel efficiency and performance through the new self-charging hybrid technology are some of the benefits car buyers can expect to get from the upcoming RAV4.

TMP said that it will unveil the full features and specifications of the new Toyota RAV4 HEV soon on its official website and social media channels. The suggested retail price (SRP) is expected to start at Php 2,157,000. Toyota dealerships nationwide will accept reservations for the upcoming model starting January 17, 2022.
