Fans of the Fortuner will have something to look forward to before the week comes to an end, as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will be pulling the covers off the PH-spec 2021 Fortuner on Saturday, October 17.
The 2021 Toyota Fortuner makes its Philippine debut on October 17
The highlight of the digital launch will be the expected unveiling of the top-of-the-line LTD variant, adapted from the separate Fortuner Legender range in Thailand. Another development is that the 2021 Toyota Fortuner lineup will now reportedly feature an all-diesel lineup, dropping the gasoline option in exchange for more torque.
In the Thai market, the new Fortuner retains the dimensions of the outgoing model, with only a slight 5mm increase in the wheelbase. It sports a larger grille flanked by restyled projector headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. The skid plate has been moved farther up on the revised front air dam, which is cornered by redesigned fog lamp housings. For the Legender, a more aggressive two-tiered grille is bookended by a three-row LED headlamp array perched above slimmer fog lamp housings.

Even the rear combination lamps have been altered with a more upswept form for a dynamic look. New 18-inch aluminum wheels are found on all four corners for the standard Toyota Fortuner, while the Legender rides on 20-inch two-tone alloys.
There’s still room for up to seven occupants inside, with the Thai-spec Fortuner sporting a new Optitron meter cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay support. Meanwhile, the Legender boasts an even bigger 9-inch touchscreen display.

The standard Fortuner line is now powered by a single 2.4L 2GD-FTV diesel engine featuring Variable Nozzle Turbo technology, generating 148 hp and 400 Nm of torque and mated to a 6-speed sequential automatic with paddle shifters. The Legender, or LTD variant, also offers the same mill, along with a more powerful 2.8L 1GD-FTV engine that makes 201 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Toyota Safety Sense will reportedly be offered on the LTD trim, which includes driver-assist technologies such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and Pre-Collision System. Pricing and other specific details have yet to be announced.
