The subcompact sedan introduces minor yet noteworthy tweaks.

Subcompact sedans combine practicality and agility in a space-efficient package. As the segment continues to be a contested one among car brands, Suzuki Philippines (SPH) hopes to use every advantage it can muster with an upgraded version of the Dzire subcompact for 2021.

The upgraded Dzire looks a little more dynamic than the outgoing model

The changes are subtle yet noteworthy, enabling Suzuki to position the Dzire as the more mature alternative to the Swift hatchback which it shares its platform with. For starters, the fascia receives a makeover, with the grille now extending farther down the front bumper in a single-frame design, giving the nose a more flat profile.

Two thick slats on the grille replace the previous version’s four narrow ones. Even the fog lamp housings have been reworked with thicker chrome trim. The power-adjustable side mirrors now have an auto-fold feature as well for the midrange GL and range-topping GL+ variants.

The revised fascia is just the beginning

Inside, the Suzuki Dzire retains the cabin of the outgoing model, offering amenities such as rear aircon vent and multiple storage spaces to complement its 378-liter trunk. The changes are mostly concentrated on the instrument panel, with a new multi-color information display.

The fuel and engine temperature indicators are now analog meters, integrated within the speedometer and tachometer dials.

Under the hood, the 2021 Dzire retains its 1.2L gasoline power plant that delivers 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual or an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission.

The Dzire’s standard safety equipment is now complemented by Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, and reverse parking sensors. All these are housed within Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Energy (TECT platform).

The new features will help the upgraded Dzire stand out in its segment
