It seems that Suzuki Auto Philippines is making its final preparations for the official launch of the Jimny 5-Door. Why so? Well, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door has been spotted along the STAR Tollway.
The snapshots captured by Papi Glenn SP show a fleet of Suzuki Jimny 5-Door units onboard a car carrier truck that was said to be driving along the STAR Tollway, which could have come from the Port of Batangas. This further hints that the Philippine launch of the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door could just be one toll plaza away.
It was last January 2023 when Suzuki Auto Philippines confirmed that it would be launching the Jimny 5-Door. However, the Japanese car brand did not give any timeline as to when it will arrive in the country.
But, with the latest photos circulating social media, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door appears to have already landed in the country–and could be scheduled to be launched in the Philippines by January 2024.
The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is relatively similar when it comes to the design language integrated into the standard Jimny that’s currently sold in the local market. Although, the Jimny 5-Door is 335mm longer than the 3-Door Jimny.
Apart from the longer body and extra doors, the design is pretty much unchanged, with the body still sporting that iconic boxy finish. At the front, the round headlamps and five-slotted grille can still be found on the new Jimny.
Inside, a familiar layout also welcomes passengers. It still comes with the same rugged-looking cabin that inspires the adventure of off-roading. But thanks to the increased length, the 5-door model expanded its cargo space from 208 liters to 332 liters.
Does the longer body mean that the Jimny 5-Door can accommodate an extra passenger? No. The Jimny 5-Door still has the same four-person seating capacity.
It also has the same 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine as the standard 3-Door Jimny. The said power unit delivers 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. The global spec Jimny 5-Door also comes with a new idle start/stop feature, and the engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The brand's AllGrip Pro 4WD system is also part of the powertrain, offering improved off-road capabilities.
Are you looking forward to the launch of the Jimny 5-Door? Will Suzuki Philippines launch other new vehicles next year other than the 5-door Jimny?
