The Suzuki S-Presso auto-gear shift (AGS), or simply the S-Presso automatic variant, is now out for the Philippine market. According to Suzuki, this version of the city car hatchback can return an average fuel economy reading of 25.3 km/l.

While we are yet to do our own fuel economy tests on the S-Presso AGS, the fuel eco figure mentioned above was derived from the similarly-specced Indian market version. Furthermore, the impressive fuel economy figure stated above can be attributed to the new Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS) feature which is present on both the Indian and the Philippine-spec versions of the S-Presso AGS.
As per its name, the EASS automatically turns off the S-Presso's powerplant as it stops at stop lights or while going through particularly slow stop-and-go traffic. Besides reducing fuel consumption, it also gives the benefit of emission reductions.
Do note that the EASS is only available for the S-Presso AGS. Suzuki did mention that the manual version which does not come with the fuel-saving feature, can still average 24.76 km/l.
The 2023 Suzuki S-Presso for the Philippine market
Like the previous version though, the new K10C which comes standard on the 2023 S-Presso can still generate up to 67 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque. As such, it looks like the small car specialist focused on making the already affordable car even more economical.
To put it into perspective, Suzuki’s average fuel economy reading for the 2023 S-Presso already rivals the Suzuki Celerio’s 22 km/l fuel economy reading that we managed to take when we tested it on the highway. The S-Presso AGS’s average fuel economy figure is likewise better than the Honda Brio, which returned 24.3 km/l as tested on the highway.
With that said, we looking forward to seeing the Suzuki S-Presso's highway fuel consumption numbers when we get the chance to give it a go on our own tests.

Besides the improved powertrain and fuel-economy-focused features, both versions of the 2023 S-Presso also get a new 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety on this Suzuki model was also improved by the addition of an electronic stability program (ESP), as well as hill-hold control for the AGS version.
The 2023 Suzuki S-Presso MT then retails at Php 620,000, while the all-new S-Presso AGS is priced at Php 660,000.
