Kia has been stepping up its production vehicles since the announcement of its rebranding earlier this year. So far, the Korean car brand has given us a glimpse of how aggressive it will go about its new vehicles with the launching of the Kia EV6 and the teaser of the next-gen Kia Sportage.

Part of the car brand’s movement is the development of a new pickup truck that could be launched in 2022 or 2023, according to reports. Kia hasn’t shed much light on the matter, and the reports circulating online might be false. Despite that, an automotive designer named KDesign AG recently published a rendered image of what a Kia pickup truck could look like.
Looking at the rendered image, it is unmistakable that the Kia pickup truck was modeled from the new Hyundai Santa Cruz. Well, Kia could be borrowing the platform used by Hyundai on the Santa Cruz considering that both car brands are under the same company, the Hyundai Motor Group.

The Kia pickup truck is designed with the brand’s signature tiger-nose grille with a layout similar to its midsize crossover sibling, the Kia Sorento. It is added with black trims on the front and lower bumper, wheel arches, and side skirts to give the truck an off-road appeal.
The blacked-out alloy wheels and rear taillights are taken from the fourth-generation Kia Sorento as well. KDesign AG embedded Kia’s new logo on the rear-end of the pickup truck to signify that it is part of the car brand’s new campaign moving forward.

No rendering has been made in the interior of the Kia pickup truck. But if Kia will pattern its pickup truck with the Sorento, then the truck could be designed with a similar interior layout which includes a black interior theme with premium touches and Quilted Nappa leather seats for higher-end variants.
According to reports, the Kia pickup truck will not be a lifestyle truck just like what its sister company Hyundai recently released. Instead, it will be a utility workhorse pickup truck that can come with various options such as a single and dual cab configuration.
