Porsche, in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, unveiled the one-off 911 Carrera based on Sally Carrera from Disney and Pixar’s Cars movie franchise.
Sally Carrera with her modern-day interpretation
The news broke out earlier this year when the German marque shared that Sally will be designed to take on real-life roads. It will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on August 20 as part of the Monterey Car Week auto exhibition in California. As promised, the proceeds will be donated to Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, an organization that supports refugees from Ukraine.
“Vehicles need a face and a story. And the animated Pixar’s film ‘Cars’ has impressively transferred done just that: brought cars to life on the big screen,” said Porsche AG Vice President for Communications, Sustainability, and Politics Dr. Sebastian Rudolph. “The story conveys values such as friendship, love, and mutual support – and in the middle of it all is a Porsche: ‘Sally Carrera.’”
The new Sally is based on the 992 generation
While Sally was a 911 Type 996, the one-off version is developed on the latest 992 generation. As a nod to the original Sally, it comes with special “Sallybluemetallic” paint, 5-spoke wheels, and the little pinstriping tattoo that the film’s protagonist Lightning McQueen used to tease her about in the first installment.
Inside, the special paint is carried over along with bright accents that give it a vibrant feel. Part of the vehicle’s exclusivity are the badges such as the ‘Sally Special 001/001’ on the dashboard, ‘Kachow! Mode’ on the drive mode rotary selector, ‘Sally Special’ on the door sills, and ‘Cars’ logo on the door panels.
One out of one
Porsche didn’t mention much about the powertrain aside from Sally’s use of a 7-speed manual transmission, tapping into her passion for driving. But since the new Sally is based on the 911 Carrera GTS, she should be carrying a 3.0-liter flat-6 engine that has 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.
“Together with Pixar, we have brought the spirit of Sally to life in a new way, not on the screen, but off the screen. With this one-off street legal 911, the ‘Sally Special,’ which we are auctioning for charity, we want to help people who urgently need support, quite in keeping with the spirit of the film character,” added Rudolph.
