After a four-year-long hiatus, Mazda Philippines has returned to the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The marque had sought to wow visitors with its latest models, as well as its minimalistic but eye-catching three-layer pavilion.
The Mazda MX-5 MCP 25th Anniversary Edition
Sitting on the layers of Mazda’s attractive booth at the 2022 PIMS were the Mazda3 M Hybrid, the CX-30 M Hybrid, and the CX-9 AWD Turbo Exclusive. But also making an appearance is the new CX-8 AWD Exclusive, as well as an accessorized version of the BT-50 4x4.
The centerpiece of Mazda’s display though is the new MX-5 MCP 25th Anniversary Edition. As per its name, this latest variant of the MX-5 was rolled out in celebration of the Miata Club of the Philippines’ 25th year.
The new variant's Navy Blue soft top
Unique details present on this limited-edition sports car include a Platinum Quartz Metallic paint job, a Navy Blue Soft top as well as Navy Blue accents on the side mirrors and roll hoops, as well as a set of Satin Silver 17-inch alloy wheels.
Step inside this MX-5 variant and the first thing you’ll notice is the unique Mazda Connect Commander knob with a Sterling Silver finish. Other features inside this variant include black leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 9-piece Bose speaker system.
Under the hood of the MX-5 Anniversary Edition is the same 2.0-liter mill that the regular Mazda MX-5 uses. At the most, this can make up to 182 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. It either gets a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to its rear wheels.
