Following the appointment of Juan Manuel Hoyos as the new president of Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) last month, the company formally welcomed him in a handover ceremony in the presence of various partners, stakeholders, and members of the media.

The handover ceremony was attended by outgoing NPI President Atsushi Najima, who has been assigned to a new role as Chief Financial Officer for Nissan India. Some of Najima’s contributions at NPI include the introduction of the Nissan LEAF, promoting electric vehicle (EV) awareness through the Blue Switch campaign, and launching the facelifted versions of the Terra, Almera, and Navara.
“I am excited for Nissan in the Philippines as it charts a new chapter with Hoyos at the helm. His vast experience in the automotive industry will help him sustain the growth that we have established in the last three years, as the country steadily recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Najima.
As for the new president, Hoyos will be growing the brand’s presence in the country with his expertise in the automotive industry. In 2017, he joined Nissan as Marketing Director for the Latin American region. He has held various management positions in other car companies, including Renault and General Motors.
A new chapter unfolds for Nissan Philippines
Hoyos says he plans to ‘strengthen the Nissan brand in the country to improve its competitiveness’ and ‘continue to provide excellent aftersales service to its customers.’ He also promises to continue building the trust Nissan has built over the years with its employees, partners, and customers.
One of the campaigns the new NPI president will lead is the expansion of its electrification program in partnership with First Gen Corporation, a Philippine-based renewable energy firm. The Japanese marque could also introduce a new subcompact crossover after showcasing what appears to be the Kicks with e-Power hybrid technology at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
“I look forward to further growing the Nissan brand in the Philippines, building upon the solid foundation of trust it has laid over the years,” said Hoyos.
