Nissan Philippines announced that the company will continue competing in the local market under the leadership of a new president, Juan Manuel Hoyos.
New Nissan Philippines President Juan Manuel Hoyos
Juan has expansive experience in the industry coming into his new position. In 2017, he joined Nissan as Marketing Director for the Latin America region. His next role was the General Manager for Global Engagement Brand, and was later assigned as the Division General Manager for Global Brand Execution and Engagement Division. The new president also held various management positions in Renault and General Motors.
Upon his inauguration, Juan will be based in Manila and will report to Nissan ASEAN Marketing and Sales Regional Vice President Isao Sekiguchi.
Facelifted Nissan Terra
“With his extensive experience in the automotive industry across different regions, I am confident that Juan will continue to sustain the growth that Nissan Philippines has shown and established under Atsushi Najima,” said Isao Sekiguchi.
The current Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director, Atsushi Najima, helped the company stay afloat amid the pandemic. In fact, the company finished strong at third place in the 2021 sales race. Under his leadership, the local lineup saw the introduction of the facelifted versions of the Terra, Almera, and Navara.
Nissan LEAF
Nissan’s renowned all-electric vehicle (EV), the LEAF, has also made its way into the local lineup during Najima’s term. It aims to promote EV awareness in the country through its Blue Switch campaign. Some of the model’s advantages include a lower running cost as compared to gasoline-powered cars and a 311-km EV range.
“Under the strong leadership of Atsushi Najima, Nissan Philippines has navigated the company through impacts of the pandemic ensuring business continuity. In FY21, Atsushi Najima has brought back the company to its third spot in the industry, having a strong performance for its core models, Navara, Terra, and Urvan,” Isao added Sekiguchi.
Najima will be assigned as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Nissan India. Juan Manuel Hoyos will be taking his new seat on April 1 following Nissan Philippines’ Board of Directors’ meeting this March.
