This is heavily hinted to be a model previously released as a digital render.

With electrification a priority for practically every automaker across the globe, Japanese marque Nissan is set to unveil a new EV concept in the metal on its YouTube channel by Thursday, February 2.

The upcoming model is believed to be the Max-Out concept shown back in 2021

The as-yet-unspecified model is heavily touted to be the Max-Out concept, a so-called ‘ultralightweight’ convertible that was previously revealed only as a virtual render back in 2021. Nissan’s teaser image depicts the Max-Out’s deep-set tail lamps, as well as the driver’s side headrest rising from the roofless body.

While the Max-Out is depicted as a two-seater convertible, the automaker claims that users can alter the seats through ‘morphing,’ such as folding the passenger seat flat. The Max-Out is one of four electric concepts Nissan bared two years ago, accompanied by the Chill-Out coupe crossover, Surf-Out electric off-road pickup, and Hang-Out people mover.

Nissan gave the Max-Out the option of having flexible seating

Common to all concept EVs are Nissan’s proprietary all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs), e-4ORCE dual-motor all-wheel powertrain, and Advanced ProPilot driver-assist features. But while there has been a declining market for convertibles of late, Nissan could likely position the Max-Out’s production version as a halo model, albeit a niche one.

The automaker’s concept reveals are part of its 2 trillion yen (over Php 841.4 billion) investment until 2026, with the aim of introducing 23 electrified models by 2030. This includes 15 new electric vehicles. Nissan also plans to bring solid-state batteries to the market by 2028.

By the end of the decade, the automaker says it wants more than half of its global offerings across the Nissan and Infiniti brands to comprise electric and electrified models.

The reveal is part of Nissan's aggressive investment in electrification

It announced that more vehicles equipped with the e-Power series hybrid system will be rolled out, before production versions of the concept EVs are released. Nissan sees its electrified models making up more than 75 percent of vehicle sales in Europe, as well as exceeding 55 percent in Japan and 40 percent in China.
