We previously reported that the Magnite, Nissan’s smallest crossover to date, has been certified for crash safety in the ASEAN market, garnering an average rating of four stars in impact tests. Now, the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) gives the breakdown on how exactly the Magnite ended up with the score.
Nissan Magnite tests at ASEAN-NCAP
The particular test unit used was a Premium variant intended for the Indonesian market, equipped with a 1.0L engine, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control. Standard equipment for front occupants included dual airbags, seatbelt retractors, and pre-tensioners, as well as seatbelt reminders.
The Magnite offers good protection for front adult occupants
For adult occupant protection, the Magnite achieved 12.87 of a maximum 16 points in a frontal offset crash simulation. Protection was good for the head and thighs as well as adequate for the front passenger’s chest and lower legs, although it was noted that drivers suffered from the risk of chest injuries.
In side impacts, the driver’s chest fared a little better with adequate protection while good protection was maintained for the head area, resulting in 15.22 out of a possible 16 points. While it was not evaluated for head protection technologies, the Magnite gained an overall score of 28.09 out of 36 points, equivalent to a 5-star rating.

Even child passengers can travel in confidence
For child occupant safety, the Magnite scored 7.82 out of 16 points in frontal impacts and a perfect 8 points in side crashes. Installation of safety mechanisms in the form of child seats garnered 10.15 out of 12 points, while vehicle-based features racked up 6 out of 13 points. This resulted in 31.96 out of 49 points, equivalent to a 4-star rating.
In terms of safety assist features, the Magnite copped a perfect 8 points for effective braking and avoidance. Seatbelt reminders scored 3 out of 6 points, while the vehicle was not rated for blind spot technologies and other advanced equipment. The total score for this area was 11 out of 18 points, translating to a 5-star rating.
