The Nissan Ariya is an all-electric compact crossover that made its debut last year. It can be an exciting go-to mobility on daily thanks to its all-electric powertrain that offers a 483 km range and an instant torque delivery.
Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept
But Japanese automaker Nissan wants to elevate the driving experience the Ariya can offer. The result is a futuristic-looking single-seater concept of the compact crossover. It comes with the same powertrain as the Ariya, except that it uses a bespoke single-seater racing car chassis.
“At Nissan, we dare to do what others don’t With the concept we want to showcase the high-performance potential of the Ariya’s powertrain in a motorsports-inspired package that not only hints at the design and styling of the road that inspired it, but that also demonstrates a new and efficient EV performance language,” Nissan Global Marketing Divisional General Manager for Brand and Management Juan Manuel Hoyos.
One futuristic-looking concept
Nissan said that the concept sports car is inspired by two things, namely its participation at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and the Nissan Ambition 2030. The Formula E is a motorsport championship for electric cars, while the Nissan Ambition 2030 is the brand’s commitment to developing its EV technologies.
Looking at the exterior, the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept features various design elements from the compact crossover version. Some of which include the illuminated V-Motion grille upfront, fluid and efficient side profiles, and a bronze finish. Overall, Nissan said that the concept looks like it was shaped by the air itself just like the Ariya crossover.
Nissan is serious about its EV development
“The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept explores the combination of the all-electric powertrain, dual motors, and revolutionary all-wheel system of the Ariya with a pure single-seat racing chassis – a powerful demonstration of just how thrilling electric vehicles could be,” said Nissan Global Motorsports Director Tommaso Volpe.
