Nissan Ariya shows driving capabilities at iconic Circuit de Monaco

The all-electric Ariya crossover makes its first public driving debut.

Last year, Japanese car brand Nissan debuted the all-electric Ariya compact crossover. The said electric vehicle (EV) is set to drive Nissan’s electrification strategy forward in the automotive market starting mid-2021 in Japan.

Nissan Ariya takes on the streets of Monaco

To give a glimpse of what the Nissan Ariya can offer, the car brand took the EV to the famous Monaco street circuit, marking the model’s first public driving debut. A sleek and futuristic design has been displayed by the all-electric compact crossover as it completed laps at the Circuit de Monaco.

“Ariya’s public driving in the streets of Monaco is a great way to witness the capabilities of our e-4ORCE technology. Ariya is the epitome of Nissan’s innovation in electric mobility and this event marks a defining moment in the next chapter of Nissan's EV journey,” said Nissan AMIEO Region Vice President, Product Strategy and Pricing, Arnaud Charpentier.

The Nissan Ariya is built with a design meant to convey the car brand’s innovative and electric future. It comes with exterior features such as a two-tone paint scheme, a black grille that seamlessly blends with the slim LED headlamps, and black trims that can be seen from the front to the back.

As for its performance capabilities, the all-electric compact crossover uses the unique e-4ORCE drivetrain which can come in either a 63 kWh or 87 kWh battery. The 2WD configuration can produce a maximum power output of 239 hp and 300 Nm of torque, while the AWD configuration can make 389 hp and 600 Nm of torque.

Serving looks and good performance

Moreover, the estimated range this EV can give varies from 430 km to 610 km, depending on the configuration. Nissan claims that the all-electric compact crossover can go from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.

Nissan Philippines hasn’t put out a word whether it will add the all-electric Ariya to the local lineup or not. However, Filipino car buyers who want a Nissan EV can opt to get the recently introduced LEAF.
