It’s another shadowy teaser but the launch date is set.

After a bit of a wait, Toyota has announced via a teaser video that it is officially launching the next-generation Land Cruiser. As a totally new generation of the said model, this is a world premiere, and it will be taking place next week, on June 9, 2021.

Toyota - Land Cruiser - Teaser - 1

Toyota Middle East will be taking the helm of the next-gen Land Cruiser’s launch. The said event will be streamed over its official YouTube channel. This of course is unsurprising since the model has always had a huge following in the Middle East.

As for the teaser itself, it of course follows the trend of keeping the car in question wrapped in shadow. Then again, there were a couple of leaks and spy images of the new Land Cruiser, which more or less reveal the final appearance of the production model.

On the outside, the upcoming Toyota-made SUV still retains the iconic boxy design of the outgoing version. However, it will bear a larger, more modern-looking front grille, as well as a pair of new headlamp clusters.

As for its mechanical bits, a report surfaced a month ago stating that this new Land Cruiser will drop the famed 4.5-liter 1VD-FTV V8 turbodiesel, as well as the UZ and UR series V8 gasoline mills. Instead, it will be using either a 3.6-liter V6 turbodiesel or a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. According to the report, the diesel engine can make up to 302 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, while the gasoline V6 can produce up to 409 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.

For reference, the current Philippine-spec Toyota Land Cruiser’s 4.5-liter 1VD-FTV V8 turbodiesel can deliver up to 234 horsepower and 615 Nm of torque.
