The mu-X is ready to strike back, and flex its muscle.

Isuzu Philippines is planning to strike back, and flex its muscle in the seven-seater midsize SUV segment as the 2021 mu-X is now reportedly in the country. The next-generation mu-X was spotted onboard a car carrier trailer in Laguna by online publication Go Flat Out PH, which could mean that the stage is set for the local debut of the 2021 Isuzu mu-X.

The next-gen mu-X that debuted in Thailand last October 2020 can give us a benchmark on what to expect on the PH-spec version. Isuzu’s midsize SUV features a heavily restyled exterior and interior design. For starters, it now comes with a more assertive front end that’s highlighted by a slimmer grille, and revamped LED headlights. The front bumper also gets a refreshed design, giving the 2021 mu-X a sleeker appeal as compared to the brute demeanor of the old model.

The next-gen Isuzu mu-X has a more refined, and assertive look

The side profile of the mu-X is integrated with crisp character lines, prominent fender flares, and a more distinctive set of alloy wheels. The rear, on the other hand, now looks more sporty than the outgoing model. It is equipped with a new taillight design that has a sharper design, a new bumper finish, and a refined tailgate.

The assertive, sporty, and sleeker appeal of the 2021 mu-X is extended when you step inside the cabin. Just to rewind a bit, a lot of individuals were impressed with the interior of the all-new D-Max, right? Now here’s the thing, the all-new Isuzu mu-X will have a similar interior layout as what is fitted into the 2021 D-Max. There are still subtle differences since the mu-X is a three-row SUV but expect that the materials used and the tech toys will be almost the same.

Interior of the 2021 Isuzu D-Max

Aside from the exterior and interior details, the next-gen mu-X has another quality that could make it a serious contender in the local midsize SUV segment. The said vehicle managed to score a five-star safety rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), which is an accolade shared by its pickup truck sibling. The 2021 Isuzu mu-X has been given an overall score of 86.81 out of a maximum of 100.

It has sharp-looking taillights

One of the reasons why it got a five-star safety rating is the Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) that has the same features integrated into Subaru’s EyeSight tech. ADAS comes with features such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency brake, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, among others. By the  way, ADAS is also equipped in the PH-spec 2021 D-Max. As such, there’s a good chance that Isuzu PH will also offer the next-gen mu-X with the said feature.
