Massive updates coming to the compact crossover, especially in the cabin.

After a series of speculations on the next-gen Sportage, Kia officially confirms its arrival through teaser photos that subtly show some of its major design changes. The Korean car brand said that the full design will be unveiled on June 8, marking another significant milestone for its brand. We have altered the teaser photos shared by Kia to uncover more details of the new updates which you can see in the sliders provided below.

A slimmer-looking overall design

The quirky-looking headlamp housings on the current fourth-gen model will be replaced by a sleeker design highlighted by large daytime running lights (DRLs) shaped like a boomerang. The boomerang design seems to be the theme for the next-gen model as it is incorporated as well in the redesigned rear taillights.

Although the grille design is not entirely shown on the teaser photos, one can expect that the next-gen Kia Sportage will come with a larger tiger-nose grille that now stretches the length of the front fascia. The new Kia logo is also expected to be embedded above the grille which should signify Kia’s rebranding movement.

The next-gen Sportage has sharper character lines

Another major change in the exterior design is the new D-pillar that is now greatly reduced in size compared to the outgoing model’s. The reason for this is the new window design that is extended to the rear end which should provide more outside view for third-row passengers.

Inside, it will be equipped with a completely different dashboard layout that showcases a new infotainment system and an instrument gauge cluster that seems to be integrated into one widescreen only. The design of the infotainment is similar to the one fitted on the 2022 Kia EV6. The new Kia logo is integrated as well on the steering wheel.

A huge update in the cabin

Kia hasn’t put out the powertrain options for the upcoming compact crossover. However, the car brand is expected to offer it a wide array of options including gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.

Reports suggest that the next-gen Kia Sportage will be sharing the same platform as the new Hyundai Tucson so similarities between the two are expected once Kia fully unveiled the official specification.
