When you think the road-going Ferrari SF90 Stradale already peaks at 986 horsepower (or an impressive 1,000 ps), the Italian automaker comes up with a surprise no one probably saw coming. Ferrari tapped its XX Program to deliver more potent versions of the plug-in hybrid sports car.

The XX Program is a research and development division that focuses on producing high-performance, track-only cars. Following the release of the Ferrari FXX-K based on the LaFerrari in 2014, the program returned to the scene with the introduction of its first street-legal cars - the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider.

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Center headed by Flavio Manzoni, the XX iterations get a more beefed-up look of the SF90 Stradale with the intention of increasing downforce. The design team reworked the side louvers, air intakes, and rear section, which provides a long tail silhouette.
Inside, the door panels, tunnel, and mats were revamped to provide significant weight-saving solutions. In theory, this should improve how XX SF90 Stradales perform on track considering weight slows down cars. Ferrari also designed specific racing seats, which are said to have a visible carbon fiber tubular structure and cushion supports.

Perhaps the highlight is what's under the hood. While the 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a tri-motor hybrid setup is retained, the XX program managed to boost the power up to 1,016 horsepower, translating to a 30-horsepower increase over the standard models. The hybridized power unit sends power to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
The Prancing Horse brand claims XX SF90 Stradales can go from zero to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds and zero to 200 km/h in 6.5 seconds (6.7 seconds for the Spider).
The XX Program further pushes the already-impressive performance of the SF90 Stradale
Ferrari will only produce limited examples of its most powerful road-going cars. Specifically, the automaker will build 799 SF90 XX Stradale units and 599 SF90 XX Spider units. All of which have already been sold.
