Hyundai Motor India Ltd has unveiled the new Alcazar 7-seater SUV which rides on the same platform as the Creta. At first glance, one can say that the Alcazar is purposely designed to provide car buyers with a sturdier and more aggressive SUV appeal.
Hyundai said that its new 7-seater SUV drew inspiration from the royal lineage of Castles and Palaces, which denote grandeur, spaciousness, and solidity. It looks a lot like a larger and more beefed-up Hyundai Venue with few design details from the Santa Fe.
The new 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar
The exterior design of the Hyundai Alcazar is distinctive, and comes with a commanding presence. Strong and bold character lines can be seen on the sides that run from the headlamps to the taillights. The pillars are blacked-out to create a floating roof design, while the wheels come with an ambitious-looking finish.
To back the strong design details, Hyundai boasts that the Alcazar is built like a fortress. The 7-seater SUV comes with an extensive application of 75.6 percent Advanced and High-Strength Steel (AHSS & HSS), while the underbody has been designed to absorb and disperse impact energy seamlessly.
Inside, it comes with features that are said to deliver a premium feel such as a second-row console armrest and sliding seats. The cabin comfort is further improved thanks to the SUV’s hydraulic rebound stopper installed in the front strut to provide better comfort in speed humps and uneven roads.
An aggressive design from Hyundai
Powering the Hyundai Alcazar is either a 2.0-liter BS6 gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter BS6 diesel engine. The gasoline powertrain option can generate 157 hp and 191 Nm of torque, while the diesel powertrain option can generate 113 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, has no word if there is a possibility for a PH-spec Hyundai Alcazar. In consideration of the Hyundai Alcazar’s exterior features, it can go head-to-head against the likes of the Mitsubishi Xpander if HARI decided to bring the new model here.
