Hyundai Motor Company revealed the 2022 Stara through a digital launch. It’s a vehicle that is set to replace the Starex in the Korean carmaker’s model lineup. Now, up close videos of the futuristic-looking MPV have been circulating online, which gives us a look at its radical design in the metal.
In the video embedded below, we can see the distinct and ambitious exterior details brought to life by Hyundai. The models shown are finished with abyss black pearl and creamy white body paint. Both looked neat, but the black Staria gets more higher-trim features such as the exclusive grille with a unique mesh pattern, and larger headlamps.

We don’t, however, get to see the brass chrome trims from the model’s Premium variant that add sophistication to the overall design. These brass trims can be found on the top-spec variant’s exclusive grille, wheels, side mirrors, front bumper lip, and around the headlamp housings.
Meanwhile, the second video shows us a glimpse of the Hyundai Staria’s interior. They weren’t able to get access to the cabin but we can see that the particular model of the MPV comes with an all-black interior with classy-looking patterns.

The Hyundai Staria can come with various seating configurations starting from two to 11, depending on customers’ preference. Drivers and passengers get to benefit from the MPV’s expansive panoramic windows that provide a more spacious cabin feel and ambient lighting to light up the mood.
The 2022 Hyundai Staria Premium
The Korean car brand confirmed that the Hyundai Staria will go on sale in select markets by the second half of 2021. Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, has yet to put out a word whether it will bring the new Staria in the local lineup or not.

The Hyundai Starex is a rear-wheel-drive, van available in the Philippines. It comes in a seatless cargo variant, an 18-seater variant, or 10-seater variant.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Starex uses a 2.5-liter diesel engine, or a 2.5-liter CRDi engine. The non-CRDi versions are capable of making up to 100 horsepower and 226 Nm of torque. The CRDi 2.5-liter mill meanwhile, can produce up to 170 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque.
All non-CRDi versions of the Starex uses a five-speed manual gearbox, while the CRDi versions come with a five-speed automatic transmission. All versions are rear-wheel-drive.
Size-wise, the Hyundai Starex is 5,125mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,925mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 3,200mm, and a ground clearance of 190mm.
Locally, the Starex rivals the likes of the Toyota Hiace, Nissan Urvan, Foton Toano, among others.
